    Just wanted to relink to this post: http://eponine119.livejournal.com/561783.html which has info on how to back up your journal in light of this article implying LJ is doing very badly in these economic times.

    I have the same username on greatest journal and insane journal as I do here, just in case.

    I really don't want anything to change though. *clings to LJ*

    ugh. today is too busy and therefore sucks.

    I'm guessing they were a site like LJ, and now they and their data is totally kaput. That is pretty scary!

    Back up your data, kids. Use LJ Book or one of the other methods.

    so. resolutions.
    Last year I made 4 resolutions. I kept 2, sort of kept a third, and failed on the fourth.

    This year.
    - finish painting my bedroom (there is no way in hell I'm going to procrastinate another 12 months)
    - make this the year I give up plastic bags
    - develop some discipline and good habits regarding exercise, writing, and keeping things tidy
    - travel, even if it's locally due to lack of funds
    - spend less money than I make. (spend less, make more.)

    These all seem very gentle and achievable.

    However, if you'll excuse me, I need to go waste time rather than paint, exercise, write or clean.

    GFG save the date
    It's still kind of early to get into this, but I know I'm not the only one who has to request vacation days for the whole year way in advance.

    So as far as the GFG ("Great Fangirl Gathering") for 2009, are we mostly all still agreed on Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving in October?

    The location will be Vegas (baby)!

    The only issue I see with doing it over the holiday weekend is that hotel rates will probably be higher. I'm still pulling for a vacation rental house, so we can hang out more and the prices will probably be lower, but the preference back when I did the poll was for a hotel.

    Anyway, I'm thinking a long weekend, like Oct. 8 - Oct. 13. (However many days you can manage.)

    I'm thinking I'll start planning in earnest around April, even though 6 months out is probably still way too early. Let me know if a) you're interested and b) this works for you.

    [info]alliecat8 brought it to my attention today that Andrew Lloyd Webber is producing a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera for the stage, to open in 2009. She's having a discussion of that over in her journal.

    Somehow, this led me to try to imagine sequels to other popular musicals.

    For example, the musical Cats. At first, I thought that in a Cats sequel, Grizabella would reach her destination and learn that she is actually in Hell. The title would be Cats: In Hell.

    But then I reconsidered, and decided a Cats sequel would have to be called Even More Cats. It would be about...a lot of cats. Possibly trying to escape or survive a "collector."

    I also made up a plot for a Phantom sequel, where there is a new younger Phantom, who is Christine's son. He wears a mask and falls in love and then, at the end, it's revealed that...to our shock and horror...there is nothing wrong with him!!! He's just really really twisted and thinks something is wrong with him.

    So. Amuse me. Tell me about more Broadway musical sequels! Would the sequel to Wicked be "Better"? The sequel to Mamma Mia, "Papa's Pizza"? Let the dream begin...let your darker side give in...

    I need to thank a bunch of people for cards and good wishes, too.

I didn't do any cards this year, and since your cards to me brought such cheer into my life I think I will definitely need to do cards going forward.
